12-Week class on crucial features of ASL-English interpreting for an performance exam. We meet Saturdays, starting in August of 2026. Exact dates to be released soon.

This 12-week course is designed for intentional focus on foundational skills of ASL-English interpreting that often challenge interpreters:

  • Week 5- Role Shifting
  • Week 6-Use of Space
  • Week 7- Register
  • Week 8- Direct vs. Indirect Language

  • Week 9- Powerful & Powerless Speech
  • Week 10- Expansion
  • Week 11- Grammar Structure
  • Week 12- Interpreting vs. Transliterating

Dates and Times

Starting in August of 2026, every Saturday from 6pm-8pm CST classes will be recorded and the weekly recording links will be sent to you for your review or in case you miss a class. I also usually stay after class a while to talk about other things you need to discuss.

CEUs

There are no RID CEUs for this training but you can request a certificate if needed to fulfill work and/or state training requirements. The certificate will note that this course is 24 hours.

Platform

Attendees will be emailed a Zoom link to attend the webinar.

Language

This webinar will be presented in ASL and spoken English since we will be working with English-ASL interpreting performance exam candidates.
